Since then, we've danced on buildings all over San Francisco, and turned public art into public conversation about women’s rights, prison abolition, historic sites, and more. Now we want to celebrate with you: the artists, collaborators, and community who made it all possible. It will juxtapose the best and worst of these two American institutions, exploring testimony from currently incarcerated women regarding their specific paths to freedom via commutation, parole, 1170 resentencing, appeals, legislation (like the Racial Justice Act), activism, and art creation. It will uplift their struggle and honor how the soul gets free. Get More Info About Show ESPECIALLY FOR WRITERS and people wanting to preserve democracy: At 2 p.m. on each date, Flyaway, with Empowerment Avenue staff member De’jon Joy, will host a justice circle where audiences are invited to use creative writing to advance freedom in their own lives.
