We have had some wonderful artists making work in the Red Box so far this year for Leg Room, our program offering artists space, the support of the Legs team, and our venue resources. It is an opportunity for artists to practice their craft and test ideas without the pressure of outcomes. So far we have hosted: 🌸 Luca Trimboli playing with themes of climate crisis, geopolitical instability, and the Australian landscape’s capacity for radical regeneration 🩰 Simonne Smiles developing the second act of GOLD, a ballet set during the Australian gold rush, merging classical ballet with aerial artistry ⭐️ Emily Lecky developing a children’s physical theatre and circus show about wishing And we look forward to hosting: 🏢 Natasha Sturgis developing a new piece exploring what it takes for a group of people to live in community |
