2024 Aeriosa AGM

Notice to Members

Aeriosa's 2024 AGM will take place from 5pm to 530pm on June 26th at the Scotiabank Dance Centre in the 6th floor boardroom. This is our opportunity to connect with you and appreciate your support with light refreshments as we present our 2023 financials and elect our board members. Before the AGM starts, we invite you to pop in to the Faris Theatre (downstairs) for an open rehearsal of Salmon Cycle, in preparation for our upcoming performances at San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival. Come sign in for the AGM and watch our dance artists practice on their favourite flying system in the Faris Theatre anytime between 4pm and 5pm. Say hello to Artistic Director, Julia Taffe and cheer on the dancers on as they rebuild her dreamlike Salmon Cycle choreography, leaping to amazing heights and landing softly as a feather. Get a behind-the-scenes-peek at the elegant technical rigging system created by our Safety Director & Rigging Designer Colin Zacharias. It will be heaps of fun!

Aeriosa Artistic Director, Julia Taffe and Bandaloop Lead Teacher, Suzanne Gallo hosted an Intro to Vertical Dance Workshop for Urban Jazz Dance Company (UJDC) at Bandaloop Studios in Oakland California. After years of meeting with UJDC Artistic Director Antoine Hunter and Assistant Artistic Director Zahna Simon on Zoom, it was so rewarding to gather with this blended group of Deaf, HoH and hearing dancers in person. Thank you to Antoine, Zahna, Suzanne and Bandaloop Studios for supporting Julia's outreach collaboration with UJDC inviting more Deaf artists to try vertical dance.

The Aeriosa team is preparing to head to San Francisco this August to perform at the prestigious San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival!

Founded in 2014 by Zaccho Dance Theatre, The San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival is located at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture. The SF Bay Area is a rare and renowned artistic hub for vertical dance practice in the world.

Aeriosa has been invited to present two performances of 'Salmon Cycle' on August 16 & 17 as part of the ticketed mainstage mixed-bill program in the Cowell Theatre.

With this high-profile invitation to perform in the San Francisco Bay Area, a major urban centre and west coast cultural hub in the USA, Aeriosa will be expanding our international profile as a Canadian Vertical Dance Leader further into North America .
