Flyaway will be in residence with open rehearsals at one of Fort Mason’s outdoor fire escapes. Flyaway has been commission to create a site-specific dance for the biennial San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival presented by ZACCHO Dance Theatre.

In 2024, GIRLFLY will return to the Tenderloin and CounterPulse in San Francisco, where we’ll explore the intersections between gender justice and living unhoused. The curriculum will combine aerial dance making via suspended steel beds and performance with an activist curriculum that explores current solutions to housing shortages. For this year’s program we will create aerial dances in a professional studio theater. We will also create a cooperative writing project—a recipe book for housing solutions. No prior arts experience is required. Plus, Earn $500!

Aerialists and performers will interact with the architecture and large scale projections, transforming Beaux-Arts Roman and Greek iconographyinto new, more inclusive narratives that more accurately reflect San Francisco’s diverse and dynamic cultures and community. Through performance, music, storytelling, and immersive technologies, The People’s Palace invites the audience to actively engage these new narratives, to see themselves within the broader context of the city, and to appreciate the richness of diverse perspectives.

A performance journey in service to artists who have lost loved ones prematurely. This project aspires to nourish the soul, support healing, acknowledge resilience, celebrate life, and honor the memories of loved ones. Through dance performance, MLD aims to provide a platform for catharsis, empathy, and collective understanding, fostering connections that transcend individual stories and unite us in a shared journey toward solace and healing.
