We don't send out updates outside of our newsletters often - but this news is too good not to share! We're thrilled to announce our Take Flight programme has been chosen as a Co-op Local Community Fund cause.
The Co-op Local Community Fund supports projects across the UK: every time members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 2p for every £1 spent goes to your membership account and 2p goes to support to local causes like our Take Flight programme.
The more Co-op members that choose us as their cause, the more money we can raise for our crucial Take Flight programme. So if you're a Co-op member, or shop at the Co-op and would become a member (it only costs £1 and you get loads of benefits) then please visit our cause page and choose us!
Take Flight offers an inclusive programme for young people aged 13-25, introducing them to aerial acrobatics, physical theatre and choreography. It offers an essential supportive space for our young aerialists to improve their physical and mental wellbeing, make new friends, develop skills and confidence, and explore their creativity.
Aerial work is intense! It requires highly skilled tutors and specialised equipment that takes a lot of wear and tear.
Your support: £400 pays for a specialised aerial tutor for 1 month. £500 means we can re-cover our Chinese Pole. £600 means we can buy 4 new aerial silks. £750 means we can buy 3 new trapezes. £1000 supports a young person in developing their aerial skills for 6 months.
‘It makes me feel strong even when I fail. I will never forget the Take Flight programme. It’s made me confident, strong and feel generally more positive about life. My (family) love seeing what I have learned on the pole and how happy and strong I can be.’ L, aged 19
‘Take Flight challenges me both mentally and physically. It allows me to be my most adventurous self is a safe, non-judgemental space. It’s a place where anyone wins, young people from any background can feel confident learning a new skill.’ Y, aged 15
‘I can honestly say that working with you over the past two years has changed my path in life for the better. I hope to one day I lift up those around me as you have done for me.” A, aged 21
