Vancouver Hosted This Year’s World-Renowned TED Talks
The theme….THE AGE OF AMAZEMENT. Over 100 speakers ranging from Scientists, Inventors, Behavioural Psychologists, Physicians, Adventures, Activists and Artists gave educational inspiring talks over a 4-day period.
Inside The Vancouver Convention Centre the decor was modern and inviting. The gathering spaces encouraged conversation, collaboration and flow. Areas plentiful with food, healthy snacks and beverages were provided next to open spaces with modern seating and warm ambient lighting. Everything needed to network - including printing, scanning and photocopy equipment was provided for the attendees.
Speaking of Amazing Artists….Aeriosa Dance Company provided the opening night’s entertainment. In preparation, Aeriosa rehearsed over a 3-day period leading up to the show, animating public spaces above the Seawall for passers by. On opening day the VIP lounge, situated on the third level with floor to ceiling windows, provided gorgeous daytime views of Vancouver’s glistening towers, Canada Place Sails and the harbour for conference attendees. By night it transformed into a cocktail lounge and theatre. At the scheduled 8pm showtime, dancers lowered into position directly outside the windows. The drapes on the inside were drawn and as the music commenced they slowly opened revealing 7 aerial dancers suspended in two duos and a trio. Powerful ground lights illuminated the silver-white costumes and the dancers moved in perfect harmony with the music. Magical….? Yes. Certainly a fitting dance company to compliment this year’s theme.
