Urban Dreaming is an immersive movement opera that transcends traditional storytelling, drawing its audience into a visceral journey through our shared human experiences, the constraints that bind us, and the timeless pulse that unites all living beings. Set against a backdrop of Austin’s urban landscape, this opera fuses contemporary and aerial dance with music to explore the confinement of the human spirit, through walls both physical and invisible. It unearths personal memories and collective trauma, transforming them into movement. At its core, Urban Dreaming is about connection - how, despite the barriers of time, identity, and circumstance, we remain linked by an invisible thread of universal energy. We'd like to shout out our incredible building hosts, the RBJ Residential Buildings! RBJ Senior Housing is an Austin-based nonprofit that has provided affordable housing to older adults for 57 years. Nestled along a scenic stretch of Lady Bird Lake, its flagship location is named in honor of President Lyndon Johnson’s mother, Rebekah Baines Johnson. In partnership with Blue Lapis Light, RBJ Senior Housing is celebrating the re-opening of its campus following a decade-long transformation which includes the renovation of the iconic 16-story tower, now renamed The Rebekah, and the addition of a new apartment building, The Lady Bird. This project reflects RBJ’s enduring commitment to provide affordable housing for older adults and to uphold the legacy of President Johnson, who originally envisioned this community. Learn More! Please contact@aeriosa.comfor details to join by Zoom.  Photo by Colin Zacharias.  Getting to Know the Gardens UBC Botanical Gardens  Scouting at UBC Botanical Gardens  Summer 2025  UBC Botanical Gardens  This summer, we are thrilled to be scouting at UBC Botanical Gardens and reconnecting with some of our favourite tall trees and tree lovers. Keep an eye out if you are exploring the gardens in August and September, you might just see Julia and Colin and the dancers creating new work in the canopy!  If you love trees and are interested in participatory experiences, UBC Botanical Gardens is a fantastic local resource. On her recent visit to the gardens Julia Taffe discovered a kindred spirit in Tom Zadorsky of Cultivara Tree Tours. Located not too far from the awesome Greenheart TreeWalk, which is the brainchild of longtime Aeriosa supporter Ian Green, Cultivara’s new tree climbing experience is offering visitors even more ways to experience the canopy. We’re currently in conversation with UBC garden staff, Tom and Ian to grow our connections and find ways we can all work together in future. Artistic Director Julia Taffe and Aeriosa are excited to partner with Deaf Theatre Artist Landon Krentz (Calgary) and guest artists from Urban Jazz Dance Company led by Mx. PAST: Tofino Tree Dance Workshop  Tofino We had so much fun dancing with community in the trees in May! In partnership with the District of Tofino and Tofino Parks and Rec, we shared 4 popular workshops for adults, youth, and families over May 25th and 26th. We received an enthusiastic response from local participants, and are in the process of brainstorming how we can share more classes with local communities in the near future!  Missed the last one? Stay tuned through the summer, we hope to offer more workshops soon.  PAST: HCMA Tilt AIR Vancouver  We celebrated 10 years of Artists-in-Residence with HCMA Architects.  In early June, Artistic Director Julia Taffe, an HCMA Tilt Artist-in-Residence in 2019, joined HCMA to celebrate 10 years of their TILT AIR program. This visionary program brings together artists, designers, architects, and creatives in exciting collaborations.  Just Announced Aeriosa will perform new site-specific work at the Pacific Rim Arts Society’s Cultural Heritage Festival (Sept 14-20).
