Flyaway’s 2019 film, THE WAIT ROOM, which features the stories of women with incarcerated loved ones, is being screened at the Left Coast Forum (LCF) in Los Angeles. The LCF is an annual convening of progressives, leftists, Democratic Socialists, and those seeking to learn from them. After taking a hiatus for a few years, the LCF is returning to gather activists from around So Cal and beyond on Saturday, October 25th, for a day-long event here at Los Angeles Trade Tech in downtown Los Angeles. The day will feature panels on everything from Medicare for All to the Invasion of Los Angeles. The event is being co-organized by the LA Progressive and radio station KBLA Talk 1580 with Travis Smiley. If you are in LA, this is for you.

Jo, Miriam, and Keith read the statement and thought it would be more effective to come together to dance and donate than to sign a statement. 100% of donations benefit Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund and Middle East Children’s Alliance. Vertical Dance Workshop

VERTICAL DANCE INTENSIVE TRAINING FOR ADVANCED AND PROFESSIONALS

SOLO AND CLUSTER

In response to requests, we have modified the workshop programme for advanced and professionals. We have created two different participation options lasting 2 or 3 days.

Here is the new schedule:

21 - 22 - 23 November 2025

Cultivating curiosity and embracing new perspectives is essential to achieving a high level of adaptability and presence in performance. The programme emphasises discovering different ways of moving the body, both solo and in groups, encouraging dancers to express their creativity and individuality as artists. The class is designed for dancers who have undergone significant training or are already professionals.

The aim is to provide new tools, stay up to date, maintain a high level of technical preparation and learn about new aspects of vertical dance.

At the end of the course a certificate of participation will be issued only if you have attended 100% of it.

Dieses Wochenende zeigen wir unser Programm VERTICAL STRAVINSKY in der Naxoshalle in Frankfurt. – Freitag 3. & Samstag 4. Oktober je 20:00 Uhr.
 
Ausgehend von Igor Strawinskys Ballett Le Sacre du printemps, das seit seiner Entstehung 1913 zukunftsweisend zum Bruch gängiger Konventionen inspiriert, erklingt La Valse – Maurice Ravels musikalische Revue der kurz darauf, im Ersten Weltkrieg zerfallenden Wiener Monarchie und zugleich fantastisch-tödlichen Apotheose des Walzers. Dem gegenüber steht die 1942, mitten im Zweiten Weltkrieg entstandene Sonate für zwei Klaviere von Paul Hindemith, in deren Recitativo-Teil die Zeilen Of this worldes joie, hou hit goth al to noth einer mittelalterlichen englischen Ballade zu hören sind.

RBJ Senior Housing is an Austin-based nonprofit that has provided affordable housing to older adults for 57 years. Nestled along a scenic stretch of Lady Bird Lake, its flagship location is named in honor of President Lyndon Johnson’s mother, Rebekah Baines Johnson. In partnership with Blue Lapis Light, RBJ Senior Housing is celebrating the re-opening of its campus following a decade-long transformation which includes the renovation of the iconic 16-story tower, now renamed The Rebekah, and the addition of a new apartment building, The Lady Bird. This project reflects RBJ’s enduring commitment to provide affordable housing for older adults and to uphold the legacy of President Johnson, who originally envisioned this community.
