Manifest Dance Film Festival Auroville, India July 31 - Aug 2 “Under The Stars” screening   SF Aerial Dance Film Festival, Aug 7-9  "Avant Garde” screening August 9, 5:30pm Fort Mason Center, SF  Spinewalker uses archival collage of early horror films including George Méliès’ 1909 “The Haunted Mansion,” Paul Wegener and Henrik Galeen’s 1915 “The Golem” (inspired by 16th century Jewish folktale), Isadora Duncan’s historic 1897 “Serpentine Dances” and more as backdrop for character driven aerial work to create a surreal world that explores psychological and spiritual manipulation. MARK YOUR CALENDAR - Sept 12 & 13 Helen will present an excerpt from the latest iteration of Radio Vision, a solo that uses articulate athletic movement, 16 mm film, a suitcase, and jello to embody research on the origins of dance on screen, music for films, and the influence of Yiddish theater and Vaudeville on pop culture. As a gymnast and aerialist, tempered by somatic studies, she demonstrates a high degree of control.
