Zaccho

Dear Friends,

As we continue to navigate the storms of today, I find myself, like always, able to ground, center, and access joy in the studio. I am so excited to share my latest work in progress with you, Return to Forever.

I'd recently discovered a handwritten song log from my teenage years, when I was an amateur radio disc jockey in Vermont. Each title carried a memory: friendships forming, creative sparks igniting, a younger version of myself just beginning to imagine what a creative life could be. It made me consider how memory guides us. It is not just a history of what has happened, but it shapes how we make decisions in the present, which in turn defines our future.

This realization became the seed for Return to Forever, a title inspired by Chick Corea’s band. This work not only revisits the songs that shaped my early creative life, but is a reconstructed memory of the decades of work I’ve created here at Zaccho Studio.

Please join us!!

Looking forward,

Joanna Haigood

Zaccho Dance Theatre Presents

Return to Forever

Inspired by Artistic Director Joanna Haigood’s rediscovery of a handwritten song log from her teenage years as a radio disc jockey, Return to Forever is a meditation on time, memory, and the enduring presence of Zaccho Studio's history of work.

The music, drawn from Haigood’s 1975 playlist of iconic American artists such as Billie Holiday and Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, serves as an emotional bridge between youth and elderhood, recalling moments of joy, curiosity, and creative awakening.
