EADF 2025 Video

As we grapple with putting the finishing touches to our next Arts Council England application for next year's professional development events (wish us luck!), what could be more fitting than sharing EADF 2025 with you.

We've been working with the brilliant Mark Morreau on a new 6-min film, shot over two weeks this August.

Now live on YouTube, the film shares moments of flight, laughter, excitement, tenderness and also some fabulously ridiculous bits from our annual aerial dance festival in the beautiful Worthing Pavilion on the south coast of England.

We've had lots of you ask about next year's event and we're delighted to be able to share the dates...

📆 EADF 2026: 3rd - 14th August

This is all funding dependent, but fingers crossed it will go ahead - it's SUCH a joyful event! 🙌

Rowan Rock - Brighton Screen Dance Festival

Saturday 8th November

We have a film sharing coming up at Brighton Screen Dance Festival as part of their Homegrown event. The film, called 'Rowan Rock', features our AD Lindsey Butcher and was made with long time collaborator Mark Morreau, with music by Scott Smith.

The setting for this aerial dance film is a rock, split in two by a living Rowan tree, in Glenesk, Scotland. Rowan Rock stands out in the landscape as a testament to survival and resilience. The film shifts alternately between the small details revealed within Lindsey's vast panoramic view; of moss and rock, lichen and bark, the colours, textures, light, the tranquillity and wild raging beauty of this land.

Hear Us Roar

Our AD Lindsey is heading into a week of research and development as a performer with long time collaborators Scarabeus on their recently funded Arts Council England project ‘Hear Us Roar’.

Hear Us Roar is a new intergenerational artistic research and development project involving female identifying artists and womxn in the community, who rewrite ageing and gender through aerial dance theatre. Watch this space!

Irish Aerial Creative Intensive

Lindsey is then headed over to Ireland for 3 weeks mid-November, to mentor on the Irish Aerial Creative Intensive with artists from all the world.

The Creative Intensive is an annual 3-week training for professionals on aerial technique and creativity. It's designed for aerialists who want to work on improving their technique and produce aerial acts, and also for dancers who want to get more aerial training and create an aerial dance solo.

The course is hosted by tutors Chantal McCormick from Fidget Feet Aerial Dance, Caroline Cabañas from Costa Rica, and our very own Lindsey Butcher. 😍

Fast forward to the New Year and lucky Lindsey gets to work with 3 wonderful artists in Perth Australia who are choreographing a vertical dance piece called ‘Wallflowers' - whoop whoop - after which we’re hoping to be able to tell you that our funding application was successful - even more whooping! 🤞
