UBC Botanical Gardens

This summer, we are thrilled to be scouting at UBC Botanical Gardens and reconnecting with some of our favourite tall trees and tree lovers. Keep an eye out if you are exploring the gardens in August and September, you might just see Julia and Colin and the dancers creating new work in the canopy!

If you love trees and are interested in participatory experiences, UBC Botanical Gardens is a fantastic local resource. On her recent visit to the gardens Julia Taffe discovered a kindred spirit in Tom Zadorsky of Cultivara Tree Tours. Located not too far from the awesome Greenheart TreeWalk, which is the brainchild of longtime Aeriosa supporter Ian Green, Cultivara’s new tree climbing experience is offering visitors even more ways to experience the canopy. We’re currently in conversation with UBC garden staff, Tom and Ian to grow our connections and find ways we can all work together in future.

The UBC Botanical Gardens are open Tuesday - Sunday, 10am - 4:30pm.

Join Aeriosa for the next instalment of this dynamic collaborative series investigating and sharing new methodologies in Vertical Dance. Artistic Director Julia Taffe and Aeriosa are excited to partner with Deaf Theatre Artist Landon Krentz (Calgary) and guest artists from Urban Jazz Dance Company led by Mx. Antoine Hunter (Oakland, CA).

PAST: Tofino Tree Dance Workshop

We had so much fun dancing with community in the trees in May!

In partnership with the District of Tofino and Tofino Parks and Rec, we shared 4 popular workshops for adults, youth, and families over May 25th and 26th. We received an enthusiastic response from local participants, and are in the process of brainstorming how we can share more classes with local communities in the near future!

We celebrated 10 years of Artists-in-Residence with HCMA Architects.

In early June, Artistic Director Julia Taffe, an HCMA Tilt Artist-in-Residence in 2019, joined HCMA to celebrate 10 years of their TILT AIR program. This visionary program brings together artists, designers, architects, and creatives in exciting collaborations.
