About the Works

Radio Vision

HELEN WICKS WORKS

Radio Vision is a dance that synthesizes a decade of ancestral research on Helen’s great grandfather, Hollywood music supervisor, Joe Gershenson, a conversation she had with Quincy Jones in 2018, and Nadia Boulanger’s impact on 20th century music. This work combines histories of film scoring, the origins of broadcast television, and trajectories in entertainment technology that led to mass media. Radio Vision uses epigenetic inquiry, oral histories, fantasy, and memory to contextualize performance and entertainment over the past 100 years. The work includes a live rendition of a Nadia Boulanger score (1914) played by cellist Ami Nashimoto and Grammy nominated pianist Keisuke Nakagoshi and a digital sound collage by Simon Linsteadt.

The Four Seasons of Hamadan by

ALIVE & WELL PRODUCTIONS

Composed by Kian Ravaei and choreographed by Annie Kahane, The Four Seasons of Hamadan is a duet for live violinist and dancer that interweaves Persian and Jewish music and dance traditions to express intercultural harmony. Premiered in February, 2025 (Los Angeles), this project blends folkloric forms from the artists’ respective heritages and reimagines that material through a contemporary lens. The Four Seasons of Hamadan is performed by Yvette Holzwarth (violin) and Kate Myers (dancer), and was funded by a grant from The New Music USA.

Take care!
