So many thanks to you, our audience, and to all the artists and organizations who worked so hard to create ODE TO JANE.
The Tenderloin Museum and the Cadillac Hotel were amazing returning partners for us.
Xoa brought their gifts as an interdisciplinary composer. They framed the project’s concepts with beats, politically savvy samples from leaders Representative Maxine Waters, Dr Kiara Bridges, and Representative Cori Bush, and oral history testimony from Diane Stevens—one of the originally Janes. They also culled original voice and song from Bay Area singer NAIA. Their music amplified the racial justice and gender justice intentions of the project.
PEACHES showed us what it means to show up for others in the TL.
Ai Yin Adelski, Laura Elaine Ellis, Sonsherée Giles, MaryStarr Hope, Jhia Jackson, Megan Lowe, and Saharla Vetsch brought depth and thrill to both the ideas of the work and its bold physicality.
Jack Beuttler, supported by Thomas Bowersox, lit the way with color and clarity; JamieLynn Duggan clothed the dancers in flash and elegance; and Sean Riley’s set animated the building with big steel chairs built by Riggs Barr.
Our rigging team—Dave Freitag, Calean Barbour and Winter Ramos—kept our bodies safe; Ari Boostani and Shams managed the stage perfectly; Jazzi Gray kept the sound flowing and Matt Leonard brought his signature calm artistry to managing it all.
Thanks Again to this amazing team and to you as a witness! |
