In Salmon Cycle, choreographer Julia Taffe and her Aeriosa team work technical rigging magic to evoke a beautiful floating journey into the mysterious underwater environs of Pacific Salmon. This piece contemplates and celebrates the extraordinary lives of five keystone species which are foundational to terrestrial, aquatic and cultural ecosystems in the Pacific Northwest.
Come join dancers Cara Siu, Meghan Goodman, Alex Tam and Juan Duarte for a 15-minute excerpt from Salmon Cycle that Aeriosa will also be presenting at the San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival August 16th and 17th, 2024.
Following the excerpt, the dancers will share a movement sketch exploring how Salmon Cycle’s counterweight rigging design combines with contact improv to magnify movement trajectories.
To complete the showing, Artistic Director, Julia Taffe will lead a conversation with the dancers and the audience about the Salmon Cycle creative process.
Masks are welcome, and will be available for audience members at the door.
