BLACK FUTURES
Artist in Residence Program
We hope this finds you in high spirits and in good health!
Zaccho Dance Theatre is excited to announce our new residency program beginning in 2022!
The Black Futures Artist in Residence Program is open to both emerging and diverse voices called to express the Black experience through a performing arts practice that inspires dialogue and builds community. Our goal is to support artists at all points of their process and to give them an opportunity to conduct in depth research without the pressure of presenting a completed work by the end of the residency.
Individuals and collaborative teams selected for the Black Futures program will receive:
- a $6,000 stipend along with an additional $2,500 in production support
- 100 hours of free rehearsal time at the Zaccho Studio in San Francisco
- mentorship support within the artist’s discipline
- social media and marketing support
All Bay Area theater, dance, and interdisciplinary artists, as well as collaborative teams who identify as Black or African American, are eligible to apply.
Application deadline is November 15, 2021. Artists will be notified of their acceptance no later than December 17, 2021.
Please share this call for artists with your communities. Tag us on social media #ZacchoDanceTheatre. We can be found on Instagram @zacchosf, Facebook @zaccho, and Twitter @zaccho. Help us spread the word!
The Black Futures Artist in Residence Program is funded by the City of San Francisco’s Dream Keeper Initiative.
The Dream Keeper
by Langston Hughes
Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamers,
Bring me all of your
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers
Of the world.
Thank you so much for your support,
Zaccho Family
