Paid Summer Internship with Flyaway
Seeking a college age intern to support the GIRLFLY youth arts program

July 6-30, 2020

We want to work with a dance artist who is interested in the intersection of performance and community empowerment.  The internship includes administrative, artistic and interpersonal input into the program.  Women of color, LGBTQAI+, and women familiar with inner city living particularly encouraged.

Summer Arts & Activism Program for Teens
July 6-30, 2020
Monday through Thursday, 10am-2:30pm

Performances July 29-30, 2020
Wednesday and Thursday, 7pm

Rehearsals and Performances take place at
CounterPulse, 80 Turk Street, SF

Applications Due: April 27, 2020

The 2020 Summer Arts & Activism Project will bring 20 young women from the Bay Area for four weeks to:
  • Get hands-on experience in aerial dance & female style hip hop/street dance
  • Earn $500
  • Create original dances for performance
  • Learn from working with professional dance artists
  • Learn about issues of girls’ empowerment and the school to prison pipeline
  • Research and carry out a Photography project led by activist Jasmine Brown
  • Connect with young women across neighborhoods, schools, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity

Flyaway will be performing The Wait Room during this three-day outdoor festival, which features international, national, and local outdoor theatre, site-specific performance, and circus. Presented in partnership with Portland Parks and Recreation.

StandardVision has selected three films from the LA Dance Film Festival to be shown as part of a 3-month exhibition on the SVLA1 screen on the side of the Marriott at LA Live. Four stories high and located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, the screen is viewed by over 20,000 people every day.
