Re-staging of WHY (2005 > 2019)

We are delighted to announce that GL have been awarded ACE funding to re-stage their first touring production, WHY. Originally created in 1994, the work achieved critical acclaim and won the Jerwood Circus Award as part of the Taking Flight series of live and screen based works. The original cast will be back in the studio later this month working towards the international premiere at the Irish Aerial Dance Festival 2019. The first UK show will be at #EADF2019 to kick start the tour. Watch our socials for insights into the original Taking Flight series and developments in the studio.

VDF 5 - Alternative Perspectives

Back in Jan we had a blast hosting Vertical Dance Forum's 5th meeting, funded by Creative Europe and Arts Council EnglandVDF choreographers and dancers worked with D/deaf & disabled artists to investigate accessibility and innovation in aerial harness work. There was so much experience, generosity, curiosity and laughter in the room, we hope to run another in the not so distant future.

Dance Space launch event commission

We are thrilled to be performing WHY at South East Dance's launch event for their Dance Space in 2020. The '20:20 Vision' launch programme aims to address long-standing gender imbalance in dance. SED AD Cath James says the programme "will challenge the status quo to showcase a powerful body of work from unique and talented women and non-binary artists.”

Don’t forget:

If you run events, training or opportunities for aerial artists, let us know - we're keen to promote all the fantastic opportunities with our international networks to make amazing opportunities available to everyone. Equally, if you're looking for events, training or opportunities, take a look at the listings!
