Youth Taking Flight Performance May 31st
Heartbeats by Youth Taking Flight
Thursday, May 31st, 7:30pm
Boyd Vance Theater
Carver Museum, 1165 Angelina

Please join us for a evening of community performance! This is an important night for teenagers from the Austin Children's Shelter. These kids have been rehearsing twice a week for two months to create an inspired piece of aerial dance. Let's give them a night to remember! The students have created a video game themed dance with aerial silks and original animations.

Summer Class Sessions Begin June 4th!
Kids Summer Workshops and Classes!
Children's Aerial Creation Camp

Kids work together to make an original aerial silks piece to perform at the end of the week. Classes meet Monday-Friday, 10-1pm. The creative process emphasizes communication, collaboration, and safety while moving in the silks and on the ground. At the end of each week, friends and family are invited to see the class perform their unique aerial dance creation.

Kids Silks Sessions

Aside from our camp, multi-week kids silks sessions are also available for varying levels of experience. Click here to register your child or to learn more about on-going Kids Silks I & II and Teen classes.

Jo Kreiter: Artistic Activist/Activist Artist

"If you are like me, you want artists who have an individual voice and the expertise to articulate it cogently. Some develop gradually; in others a special spark asks for attention from the minute you encounter it. Jo Kreiter is one of them." - Rita Felciano

Migration Stories Dinner
captures community voices
On March 29th, 50 Bayview Hunters Point community members came together at Old Skool Cafe (a youth run restaurant) for the Migration Stories family dinner. MC'ed by Lawanda and Macio Dickerson, the event was an opportunity for intergenerational community members to share their family stories and delicious food from coveted family recipes. BAYCAT and Peabody Award winning independent producer, Davia Nelson of the Kitchen Sisters, documented these stories through audio and video. This is the first event leading up to Zaccho's Picture Bayview Hunters Point performances in October. Funding for this project is generously provided by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation.

Look for a SPECIAL ANNOUCEMENT on our next event very soon!
